William Donovan
William Donovan was 26 years old at the time of his death and was the son of Philip Donovan of Curranes near Skibbereen and Sarah, daughter of Capt. James Coppinger. Both he and his brother sailed with the Navy. He was killed by grapeshot while leading his ship, the “Modeste” to battle in 1908.
His headstone is a fine example of the stonemasons craft and is carved on Portland stone.
