Cobh embraces Culture Night

On Friday 20th September Cobh several events taking place in the town for Culture Night.
From 5.30 pm Adrian Gebruers will perform a one hour recital on the
carillon of St. Colman’s Cathedral. The Cathedral is unique in having the
largest carillon (49 bells) in Ireland and Britain and is the only one of
its kind in Ireland.
At 6 pm the Cobh Confraternity Band will perform on the Victorian Bandstand
in the Promenade. The band was founded in 1967 and is one of the busiest
brass and reed groups in the south of Ireland, making around 35 public
appearances annually.
From 6 until 9 pm Cobh Library presents Cultural Cross-Section with local
artists, sculptors and crafts people in attendance.
Cobh Museum will remain open late hosting a free talk event with a maritime

theme. Daire Brunicardi nautical consultant and author of “Haulbowline-The
Naval Base and Ships of Cork Harbour” will speak about his new book
entitled “The Naval Station at Cork” at 5.30 pm.
