Cobh is the place to be this Sunday 26th May as the second Summer Swing Event of the year takes place against the backdrop of the magnificent liner Caribbean Princess which will be at the quayside all day. This spectacular ship is 951 feet long, weighs 112,894 tonnes, has 4 outdoor swimming pools and has 15 passenger decks. It can carry over 3500 passengers and 1100 crew.
It has a “Movies under the Stars” cinema, three 500 seat restaurants and a running track that circles the ship – three laps equal one mile!!
Back on dry land in the Promenade there will be markets, live music and a carousel from 11 am. There is plenty of free parking in the Five Foot Way car park which is only a few minutes walk from the ship.
Alternatively Trains will run every 30 minutes from Cork to and from Cobh all day.
The Titanic Experience, Cobh Heritage Centre, Cobh Museum, Titanic Trail and the Cobh Road Train are all fantastic experiences and boats to Spike Island depart at 12 noon and 2 pm with the option of a Spike Island Guided Tour with the 2 pm departure.
The Caribbean Princess sails at 6 pm for Dublin with a recital on the quayside by the Cobh Confraternity Band. Why not join in the unique Cobh sendoff as the huge ships slips away from the quayside?
