Triathlon, Swim and Cruise Liners in Cobh this weekend

The “last” weekend of the summer will be very busy in Cobh with the first ever Jailbreak Triathlon on Saturday 25th August and the sixth annual Escape from Spike Island Swim also taking place.  The Triathlon, which has both Olympic and Sprint Courses begins at 11 am with a swim from Spike Island for the Olympic course. The swimmers will arrive to Kennedy Park (The Promenade) for the transition to their bicycles which takes them to Belvelly and back and the course finishes with the run on the High Road/Low Road circuit. The Escape from Spike Island swim commences at 11.30 am and the swimmers will come ashore at the steps by Cobh Heritage Centre. http://cobhedition.com/?p=20021

On Sunday the Cruise Liner MSC Lirica will be berthed in Cobh with all the Fun of the Fayre organised by Cobh and Harbour Chamber offering plenty of free entertainment for young and old.

At 4.30 pm there will be a Carillon recital on the 49 bells of St. Colman’s Cathedral.
